Dr. Mairin Jerome

Meet Dr. Jerome

Mairin Jerome, M.D. is an interventional sports and spine physiatrist with extensive experience in comprehensive musculoskeletal pain management using advanced image-guided techniques. Dr. Jerome specializes in the diagnosis of painful joint degeneration, spine, and sports injuries with the goal of getting people back to the activities they enjoy. Her specific expertise is in the treatment of such conditions using image-guided regenerative injection techniques, including prolotherapy and orthobiologics.

Originally from New York City, Dr. Jerome received her undergraduate degree in studio art with a focus on sculpture from Brown University and earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. During her PM&R residency at Emory University School of Medicine, she received the resident research award, was awarded Resident of the Year for three consecutive years, and served as chief resident. She completed her fellowship in interventional orthopedics and regenerative medicine at the Centeno-Schultz Clinic in Colorado, one of the original practices to pioneer the use of orthobiologics under the leadership of Dr. Chris Centeno.

After fellowship, Dr. Jerome joined the physician team at the Regenerative SportsCare Institute (RSI) in New York City. At RSI, she was fortunate to work closely with and learn from Dr. Gregory Lutz, a pioneer in the field of interventional regenerative medicine for spinal disc injuries. She later returned to the Regenexx network in private practice, further honing her skills in complex spine and joint procedures at the Centeno-Schultz Clinic and then as the lead physician at Regenexx Des Moines.

Dr. Jerome has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed papers and has presented at professional conferences nationally, as well as internationally. She has co-authored textbook chapters on the topic of regenerative medicine and contributed to the first comprehensive procedural textbook atlas in this novel field, Interventional Orthopedics (2022). With longevity in mind for her patients, Dr. Jerome is committed to developing improved, evidence-based treatment options that contribute to true quality of life.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Jerome enjoys exploring the outdoors with her mini schnauzer (Oliver), going to museums, creating mixed media artwork, practicing yoga, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Jerome is thrilled to join Dr. Williams and the talented team at Interventional Orthopedics of Atlanta.
